Hi, I’m Natasha, born and raised in South Wales, UK. I am the founder of Guilt Free Health, a business that combines my two major passions in life: health and making a difference.
 
I am the eternal student and have already gained qualifications in the human mind including a 1st class degree in Psychology, PgC in Addiction Studies, and a 1st class MA in Social Work. I have 5 years practical experience dealing with addiction and therapeutic interventions that influence POSITIVE CHANGE in people. I’ve combined this expertise together with 12 years of passion for health and fitness and my personal experiences of my own ‘journey to healthy’, to bring you Guilt Free Health.

About
My passion for health, fitness and nutrition began around 12 years ago when I decided my life had to change. All through school I was bullied for being overweight and this hugely impacted on my confidence and self-esteem. When I hit my late teens I started going to the gym and changed my diet. I lost 3.5 stone and felt great. BUT, I was relying on excessive cardio and felt like I ‘deserved’ to eat takeaways and junk food after exercise….I was stuck in a cycle of restricting, binging and overexercising. I may have looked great but I certainly wasn’t healthy!

The turning point for me was a few years ago when I began weightlifting and learning about the paleo diet and ‘clean eating’. The paleo diet focuses on eating natural foods such as meat, fish, veg, fruit, nuts and seeds. i began to focus on being strong and healthy instead of skinny, and lifting weights twice my body weight gave me the confidence I never thought I would have. As part of the paleo lifestyle I cut out all dairy, wheat, gluten and refined sugars. One day after about 6 weeks, I decided to have a ‘cheat’ and ate loads of non-paleo foods, including a big fat ice-cream. Within an hour I was in doubled over in agony and my stomach had ballooned so much I looked 6 months pregnant. I quickly learned that I was lactose intolerant.

Now I had a big problem….my sweet tooth! The big part of me that craved cheesecake every weekend (or any cake for that matter!). The one thing that helped me stay on track, the one thing I looked forward to every weekend I could no longer have. I started getting creative in the kitchen and after much experimentation I developed the BEST paleo banana cake ever. I started making it as gifts for friends and family. Now they were not interested in healthy eating in the slightest…but they all LOVED it. My nan had been diagnosed as diabetic and she was super happy to be able to eat cake again! My great nan loved my cakes too. I created my guilt free granola and that went down a storm too! Sadly my great nan passed away in April 2014. After she passed away, I had a dream about turning my home-made guilt free goodies into a business and that next morning I found a white feather in my car. Call me crazy but I looked at it as a message from her. Then  my nan kindly used some of her inheritance from great nan to get me the start up equipment I needed for the business. In June 2014 I took the plunge and started the business whilst studying for my social work masters. Little did I know how big it would become, with a huge range of products available to order via my online shop! A very happy surprise indeed. I am so grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey, especially my customers.

At the start of 2016, I had ideas about how I wanted to take the plunge into working on my business full time. I expanded my business to incorporate the concept of ‘Guilt Free Health’, combining my love of health and fitness with my social work background. I decided I needed a new image to go with it, so rebranded the company with the help of my wonderful designer at Nicola Louise Studios. I expanded into detox and transformation programmes and therapeutic interventions and coaching for people with issues around food. I have personally experienced many of the things I blog about and advise on. I can really put myself in your shoes – I’ve been there.
